Max Homa is a favourite of mine having won at Riviera earlier in the season when I tipped him. His composure in contention that day was Tigeresque and comparisons have been made between that venue and Silverado. Homa grew up in California and is -12 with 18 holes to play, 2 shots behind co-leaders McNealey & Knous. McNealey has the potential but has yet to win on either the PGA Tour or Korn Ferry Tour. He looked shaky when holding the lead yesterday and it was only once he found himself chasing that his game turned around.
Knous is a real surprise. He’d missed 15 of his previous 18 cuts. He’s relied heavily on his short game and putting this week. The pressure is huge on Knous. He’s playing for his livelihood today and his score will determine his future. I doubt he slept well. Homa shot a superb 65 (-7) yesterday and has gained 7.3 Strokes Tee to Green this week, 2nd in the field. At 9/1 he looks the best bet ahead of the final round.
