I cannot believe SA is odds against for the match. WI are without Gabriel and have no batting worth a name. SA’s pace attack of Rabada Nortje and Ngidi will love these conditions, and even though SA’s batting is flaky, in Elgar, QDK, and Van Dussen they have 3 proven international batters. Which is 3 more than WI.
Roach is a class act, and this is between him and Holder. He has won it 3/3 here with a 4,4 and a 5. Enough said really.
Ngidi is a quality bowler, his stats are wonky because over 1/2 of his games have been in Asia, in SA he has won this 1/5 and taken his wickets at 20. I think a bowler will win this, and the other 2 seamers are 10/1 and that is despite Nortje never winning one, and Rabada never winning one away. The Duke Ball is about seam movement more than outright pace, so our guy fits the bill. Split stake with top team bowler.
41 wickets in 27 games his Maharaj’s 1st innings record outside Asia, he has gone wicketless in 11 of those with only 1 wicket in 6 more. Especially with the Duke ball and SA playing 4 seamers, it’s very likely Maharaj won’t even get a bowl. Hence backing the two big seamers makes a lot of sense, Also the line on the PP, suggests he needs at least 4 wickets which is he barely bowls in the 1st innings seems a lot
Rassie Does not have a test ton, but I do not think he will get a better chance. West Indies has 2 good bowlers, he will bat 4 so should get some protection. He averages better than 40 in all forms of the game, and its a matter of time before he makes a ton
Finally, big Rakeem has only cleared this line 1/4 outside Asia and it took him nearly 60 overs in the match to do it, Outside Asia, he has 7 wickets at 82 each at a strike rate of 178 or nearly 30 overs a wicket. Over evens seems v kind.
