Going back to basics this week and backing an old favourite. Harris English has landed us plenty of top 20s in the past and I like following him this week too. He’s probably a slightly worse version of Webb Simpson, who I have as favourite this week. However, I’d much rather take English at almost 3x the price.

This bet would have placed 25% of the time last season indicating great value and some of those places have been in much tougher fields. English will be rested after a week off last and could finally get the win he has been knocking on the door of for the last season and a half. I’d have him around 22/1.

Next pick is Denny McCarthy. A formidable putter who is widely recognised as the best on tour with the flatstick. The rest of his game has been decent this year too and he has 2 top 10s from his last 4 events.

There’s a small bit of course form too with a top 10 last year. A lot of positives to like here along with the price of 80/1! I’d have him closer to 60/1.

Final tip for now is Harold Varner III. Note the stake, its super small. I’ve thrown a lot at chasing Varner in the last season and don’t want to lose a point a week on him going forwards but I can’t get away from the fact that he should be much shorter.

This season 18th SG total on tour should not be 100/1 in a field of this quality. That said he has only placed on these terms once in the last 26 events which is an insight into why I’m keeping it small. One to continuing following for the time being but not go broke chasing!
