Players Championship Round 1 Betting Tips

Jamie Hughes Most 180s v Ricky Evans 0.5pts – 3.0 @ 888Sport
Luke Humphries to beat Devon Petersen 0.5pts – 2.5 @ William Hill
Ross Smith Most 180s v Kim Huybrechts 1pt – 1.91 @ SkyBet
Labanauskas Most 180s Draw No Bet v Michael Van Gerwen 0.5pts – 2.95 @ 888Sport

4 darts betting tips for the Players Championship opening round. Keeping my stakes down as this is another short format event. The World Championship is the one I’m interested in next month.

First up Jamie Hughes. He’s only hitting 0.2 180s per leg across his last 30 matches but that’s not far behind Evans (0.22). Hughes tends to be more consistent. Evans smashed in 6 180s in 6 legs v Aspinall last weekend but prior to that had gone 0-1-2-2-0.

Hughes has hit the Most 180s in 9 of his last 18 matches. That’s a better strike rate than Evans who has won 8 of his last 20. Worth a small punt at 2/1 which is a stand out price.

Petersen’s form has fallen off a cliff. In his last 14 matches he’s averaged just 90 and lost 7 of those games. I’m hoping he finds his best game in time for Ally Pally, but right now he’s worth opposing.

Across their last 30 matches their averages are almost identical. Petersen 94.91, Humphries 94.97. When you factor in Humphries leads the H2H 3-0 he’s worth a poke at 6/4. 2 of those wins weren’t proper tournaments but the other one came in the World Championship.

Ross Smith has been firing in the 180s of late. 0.32 per leg across his last 30 matches, compared to Huybrechts at just 0.21. Smith has won this in 15 of his last 20 matches, including a winning streak of 12 on the spin. It also landed in their last 2 meetings. Stand out price, much shorter elsewhere so snap up these odds quickly.

MVG has hit the most 180s in 1 of his last 21 matches. WOW! He’s lost 7 of his last 8 in this market. The only problem being is that Labanauskas is actually hitting fewer than him across their last 30 matches. In their most recent meeting it finished 1-1, hence why I like the draw no bet market. Labanauskas +0.5 180s at 1.91 at Betfred also looks generous.
