Bubba Watson v Sungjae Im Match-Bet (Tie-no-bet), 2.0 @ Mr Green, 3.3pts
Alex Noren to miss the cut, 2.5 @ Bet365, 2.2pts
Dylan Fritelli to miss the cut, 2.25 @ Bet365, 3.3pts
Jordan Spieth to miss the cut, 2.25 @ PaddyPower, 4.4pts
Bubba Watson looks good value for me in this weeks match-bet against Im. Watson is yet to miss a cut this year from 4 events whilst Im has an equally impressive only 1 missed cut from 11 events. In the 4 events these have both played in it’s currently 2-2 this season so evens looks about right.
That said Watson ranks better in every category bar with the putter. If he irons that out this week there should only be one winner. Watson has slightly more distance of the tee too which could prove very useful this week. Wrong favourite for me and think Watson should be the one odds on.
Like usual, I’ve ranked the field to find those who I think are in the lower half and should be good choice to oppose in the cut market this week.
First of those is Alex Noren. Whilst he has made 5 cuts in 7 events, his overall SG figures are really poor. Ranks 154th on tour for this year and is 177th tee to green, which could be a huge factor this week. Happy to oppose him this week at a decent price.
Next is Dylan Frittelli and for a chunky stake too. He’s missed 3 cuts in the last 7 events and his putting has been atrocious. Let’s bank on that continuing this week. He missed the cut here 2 years ago and only slight improved last year with a T73 finish. Again, happy to oppose at above evens.
The biggest stake of this week goes on Jordan Spieth to miss the cut. He’s missed 3 out of 6 this season and doesn’t look to be turning around what has been a miserable few years. You’d expect his putting to be pretty good but he’s still ranked outside the top 100 in this aspect and outside the top 200 off the tee! This will be crucial this week and I really don’t see it as being the week he turns it all around. Fully expect his misery to continue… so let’s profit off that and then at least someone gets some joy! 😀
A few bets stood out this week, some of them opposing Woodland and other opposing Leishman. I’ve decided to dodge them this week. Woodland looks to have recovered well from his injury, especially if you take what he has been saying as gospel – that may be one to monitor over the coming weeks.
Similarly, Leishman looks to have turned his abysmal form around so happy to keep tabs on that for a while. May be a long time before we decide to get on board with either of these golfers but for now not confident enough to oppose them.
Enjoy this weeks golf everybody!
