Jorge Campillo 0.5 pts EW – 55/1 @ Ladbrokes (5 places 1/4)

I’ll hold my hands up and admit that my picks last week were pretty dismal. Fortunately, I kept my stakes low. Hopefully, the stunning scenery at Leopard Creek this week and the wildlife at the nearby Kruger National Park will inspire me to up my game.
Although South Africans have dominated the Alfred Dunhill Championship since the event started in 2004 there have also been a few Spaniards take home the trophy and I’m hoping that Jorge Campillo can add his name to this list.
Campillo gave the Joburg Open a miss and arrives in SA upbeat after a 3rd place finish in the Cyprus Showdown where he ranked 3rd in Stroke Average over the 4 days of the hybrid event and 13th in Strokes Gained Putting.
A great two weeks at Aphrodite Hills for the #CyprusOpen and #CyprusShowdown. It's always nice to finish in style 😃 pic.twitter.com/PEAKK3EqQV

The 34 year old from Caceres won the Qatar Masters back in March and had three more top 10’s in the summer before a dip in form in October. This was also the case in 2019 before he bounced back with a T13 in the Nedbank Challenge and T18 in the DP World Tour Championship.
The Leopard Creek track provides a tough challenge where the cream regularly rises to the top at the weekend. As one of the higher ranked players in the field Campillo should show his class at decent odds.
My second pick is Neil Schietekat to finish in the top 20. The 35 year old has one of those names that you tend to remember & he has a habit of performing well when the Sky TV cameras are in town.
In his last 13 events on both the Sunshine & Challenge Tours he has recorded 4 top 10’s and was T11 last week in the Joburg Open. This good run of results alongside a T12 finish in the 2018 Alfred Dunhill Championship should hopefully result in Sky’s Tony Johnstone giving him some positive commentary on Sunday.
Good Luck Zinger. Campillo a favourite of mine and I did notice Neil Schietekat had finished runner up in a couple of Van Tonders recent wins!
